Dot Matrix Marking Machines
Dot-Matrix is a term derived from the early design of ink printers. This is from the printer's ability to make an image based on a bunch of dots or dot-matrix. The dot-matrix image is limited by the size of the dots.
CMT is using this dot-matrix marking technique to mark metal. These dot-matrix metal marking machines offer the variability in the marking legend, as they are CNC controlled.

This is a sample mark of the Punta-Matrix Font. This dot-Matrix mark was made with CMT's DPS Dot-Peen Scribe Marking Machine. This mark was made with an air scribe diamond tip. Dot-Matrix marking systems are available with either pneumatic marking stylus or electric stylus.

The "Impress" heavy duty dot-peen marking head for the DPS Dot-Peen-Scribe marking machine creates very "impressive" marks in metal. This larger pneumatic cylinder provides more force and creates a deeper mark. This marking machine is very useful when the mark is required to be visible through paint or other coatings. |

The mark shown at left looks like a Dot Matrix mark that could have been made by a Dot Matrix marking machine - but it wasn't. This Dot Matrix mark was made using dot style characters and an air impact marker. this solution allows for more characters, and a deeper mark when using the air impact marking machines to make the mark. This character style is most helpful to make clear marks on cast surfaces. |
